Founded in 1876, the City of Oswego Fire Department offers a variety of fire suppression, water and technical rescue, and emergency medical treatment and transportation services. In addition, the department provides fire prevention education and safety inspection programs. The City of Oswego Fire Department operates John D. Murray Memorial Firefighter Museum. The department has scuba dive and hazardous material teams. It also has a specialized rescue team that focuses on high-angle rope rescue. Additionally, the City of Oswego Fire Department has a fire-related youth team that offers counseling services to children. The department responds to more than 3,000 calls a year and has a fleet of fire trucks. The City of Oswego Fire Department provides ambulance services.
