3956 State Road 68
Ranchos de Taos, NM 87557

Since 1951, Taos Drums has been honoring age-old Native drum-making traditions in the shadow of The Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Situated in historic adobe buildings in Ranchos de Taos, their workshops are where the renowned Taos Drum comes to life. Crafted by skilled Native artisans from Taos Pueblo, each drum is meticulously handmade using natural materials sourced sustainably from Northern New Mexico.

The drum frames are expertly carved from indigenous woods like cottonwood, aspen, or pine, harvested with utmost care for the environment. The drum heads are fashioned from cow, deer, elk, or goat hides that are meticulously cleaned, scraped, and secured to the frame with hand-scalloped precision. Taos Drums prides itself on offering drums with unique voices, tailored to match specific climates and preferences.

Visitors to Taos Drums are invited to explore the giant teepees on their grounds, just five miles south of Taos Plaza on Highway 68. A free tour of the drum-making workshop and showroom provides a glimpse into the world's largest selection of Indian drums, rawhide furnishings, folk art, crafts, jewelry, and Zapotec rugs. Come immerse yourself in the rhythmic spirit of Taos Drums and find the drum that resonates with your heartbeat.
