Anthony Gonzalez, M.D., FACS, FASMBS, is chief of surgery at Baptist Hospital of Miami and medical director of bariatric surgery at South Miami Hospital. Peter Andrew Abdelmalik, MD

Peter A. Abdelmalik, M.D., Ph.D., is a board-certified neurologist and director of inpatient general neurology at Baptist Health Brain & Spine Care. He specializes in the acute care of hospitalized patients with neurological conditions that affect the brain, spinal cord and nerves. He has training and expertise in neurocritical care and vascular neurology. Dr. Abdelmalik is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in neurology and neurocritical care and certified by the American Heart Association telehealth stroke. Prior to joining Baptist Health, Dr. Abdelmalik was an assistant professor of neurology at the State University of New York, University at Buffalo, Jacobs School of Medicine and Biological Sciences and a neurointensivist at Kaleida Health, Buffalo General Medical Center. He also served as a teleneurology and telestroke consultant for Adjacent Health, located in Norfolk, Virgina. After earning his Ph.D. in neurophysiology/neuropharmacology at the University of Toronto, Dr. Abdelmalik earned his medical degree at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. His clinical training includes an internal medicine internship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, a neurology residency at Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience and a neurocritical care fellowship at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Abdelmalik has published his research in medical journals and books and presented to his peers at scientific symposiums. He is an editorial board member for several medical publications and a member of numerous professional societies. Dr. Abdelmalik is committed to supporting patients and their families through primary brain injury, including hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke, trauma, seizures and metabolic assaults. He employs a multidisciplinary treatment approach that focuses on immediate medical stabilization, prevention of secondary injury, psychological support and rehabilitation. Michele L. Taubman, M.D., RPVI, is a board-certified vascular surgeon at Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute. Her clinical interests include aortic aneurysms, peripheral arterial disease, limb salvage, dialysis access, varicose veins and thoracic outlet syndrome. She also follows patients with carotid disease and offers surgical endarterectomy or transcarotid arterial revascularization, when appropriate. Dr. Taubman is certified by the American Board of Surgery in general surgery and vascular surgery and by the Alliance for Physician Certification & Advancement as a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation. Committed to advancing the field of vascular surgery, Dr. Taubman is actively involved in research to assess the safety and effectiveness of vascular disease treatments. Dr. Taubman is an affiliate assistant professor, volunteer faculty, at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. She serves as surgical faculty for the interventional radiology fellowship at Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute as well as on numerous committees at the Institute. She is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, councilor for the south region of the Florida Vascular Society and member of the South Florida Society for Vascular Surgery. Dr. Taubman earned her medical degree at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and remained at the university to complete a general surgery residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she served as chief resident. Her clinical training also included a vascular surgery fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. Following her fellowship, Dr. Taubman returned to Miami where she has served patients in the Baptist Health community for more than a decade. Dedicated to providing patient-centered care, Dr. Taubman enjoys establishing relationships with her patients and their families and working closely with them to achieve their health goals. Dr. Taubman is fluent in English and Spanish. As a former gymnast, she prioritizes staying healthy and active. Her current pastimes include playing pickleball, traveling and reading.
