Skagit County Jail

Established in 1984, Skagit County Jail is a detention facility that houses more than 6,000 inmates per year. The jail is a part of the Skagit County Sheriff's Office, which is governed by Skagit County in Washington. Its Jail Alternatives Program offers alternatives to the standard methods of incarceration. Skagit County Jail is responsible for inmate movement outside of the jail facilities for court appearances and medical appointments. The Skagit County Sheriff's Office additionally operates a civil division for processing civil papers that come from courts, private individuals and businesses. The office s proactive unit is responsible for gathering intelligence reports on crime rings and problem areas.
