History

I opened my private practice in 2011. My professional background includes experience working with homeless & incarcerated populations in community mental health settings, counseling first generation college students of color in New York City, conducting anti-bias consultation and training programs in nonprofit, corporate, school, and community settings, working with homeless youth, and teaching organic gardening. I hold Master of Arts and Master of Education Degrees in Counseling Psychology from Columbia University in New York. My graduate program was grounded in a multicultural psychology framework and placed experiential group work around race/ethnicity at the core of our clinical training, with an intersectional focus on gender, socioeconomic class, ability, sexual orientation, nationality, religion, and immigrant status. I also attended a certificate program in conflict resolution at the International Center for Cooperation and Conflict Resolution (ICCCR) at Columbia University.

Specialties

I am a Seattle-based psychotherapist working with teens (15+) and adults, specializing in the treatment of: - Trauma, loss and painful childhood experiences - Perinatal/postpartum anxiety and depression - Racial/ethnic identity and internalized oppression The thread that connects all of my work is a desire to help people show up authentically for all that life has to offer, and the full range of human experience. I believe that no human life is without pain, and while pain does not have intrinsic meaning, it can be an opportunity to open to greater self-understanding and a deeper connection with others. Because we bring our whole selves to therapy, we inevitably address a variety of interconnected concerns. My areas of expertise include - Depression - Anxiety, stress, and sleep - Exploring the impact of racism, sexism, classism, homophobia, ableism, transphobia, and other forms of oppression - Racial/ethnic identity development - Letting go of shame and perfectionism - Resolving painful childhood experiences and PTSD - Pregnancy loss, infant loss, abortion, and infertility - Transition to parenthood - Sexuality and sexual trauma - Relationship concerns - Healthy relationship to food and body image - Relating wisely to anger - Grief and loss - Career choice and life purpose - Spirituality and existential questions - LGBTQ+ and trans* concerns
