New River Valley Plant, located in Dublin, Va., is one of the largest Volvo trucks manufacturing facilities in the world, and has an annual production capacity of more than 50,000 trucks. The plant is located on an area of more than 1.5 million-square-feet. More than 85 robots are used in its manufacturing and painting facilities. The plant assembles and paints the cabs, fairings and accessories for all Volvo VN and VT series highway tractors and VHD vocational trucks. The plant also assembles Mack Trucks Vision and CH highway tractors. It employs more than 3,000 people, and is one of the largest employers in southwest Virginia. All its production workers are represented by the United Auto Workers Local 2069.
