Dr. Inouye is board certified in Family Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She is a graduate from Tufts University School of Medicine with her family medicine internship/residency training at NC Baptist Hospital. Her initial practice was in rural North Carolina in a doctor shortage area in Westfield, NC doing obstetrics and family medicine until relocating to Roanoke, Virginia to teach in the Carilion Family Medicine Residency Program for 14 years. She then transitioned into a faith based private house-call practice from 2003 until current. While doing the house call practice, she also was the medical director of Carilion Hospice for 8 years, worked in Urgent Care in various locations in the SW Virginia area and volunteered as a music teacher and K through 2nd grade assistant teacher in a local church school for 5 years. In 2011, she became the medical director of Good Samaritan Hospice became board certified in hospice and palliative medicine. In September 2018, she felt called to teach residents to impact the next generation of physicians and joined the Lewis-Gale Family Medicine Residency core faculty with an interest in geriatrics, community medicine, and hospice and palliative care. She is very active in her church family, loves to rock-climb and roller-blade and is a teacher of swing dancing at a local recreation center. She has 3 married grown children with 3 grand-kids. She travels extensively to visit them in Washington state and Japan. She has been active in the mission field for the past 5 years in a little village in Guatemala, providing medical and spiritual care to the people of Los Ocotes every four months.
