Dr. Michael Fox is a fellowship-trained sports medicine surgeon specializing in surgical and non-surgical care of knee, shoulder, elbow, hip, and ankle injuries. He earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia and completed residency at the University of Pittsburgh. He further specialized by completing a sports medicine and shoulder surgery fellowship at Duke University, where he provided care for high level athletes, including Duke Men’s Basketball and Football teams. Whether working with young athletes or weekend warriors, Dr. Fox gets the most joy from seeing his patients regain their quality of life and get back to doing their most fulfilling activities. Dr. Fox believes in shared decision-making with his patients, working together to develop an individualized treatment plan for their needs and goals. He is trained in the cutting-edge and minimally invasive sports medicine procedures, and is an award-winning researcher who has presented his findings at national and international sports medicine conferences. Dr. Fox is a native of Fairfax County, and he enjoys exploring the many parks and hiking trails, as well as the incredible international food and culture in the area. He is also diehard DC and Pittsburgh sports fan.

Dr. David J. Novak is a specialist in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine, bringing 21 years of experience to OrthoVirginia’s professional team. His areas of specialization include sports Medicine, shoulder arthroplasty, and arthroscopy of the shoulder and knee. Dr. Novak takes special pride in helping patients get back to engaging in all the activities they love, using innovative technology that makes procedures less painful and invasive. As a sports medicine specialist, who himself enjoys skiing and running in his spare time, he is keenly focused on the special orthopedic needs of athletes and others who engage in physical activities, including their recovery from injuries. As an orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Novak provides each patient with the medical and surgical solutions they require, as well as the personalized care they deserve.
