Cam Too Camellia Nursery
Cam Too was established as a camellia nursery in 1982, as an outgrowth of a long term camellia hobby. We are committed to the advance of camellia cultivation ; to produce top quality garden varieties ; to increase the temperature zone ranges of camellias ; to increase the blooming season and increased bud-set and, therefore producing a more floriferous plant ; and increasing disease resistance among the species. We are located north of Greensboro, North Carolina in the United States, on thirty acres of land off of Highway NC 150. Our current inventory of approximately 250, 000 plants: 145 Camellia japonica varieties 50 Camellia sasanqua varieties 40 Zone 6 Camellia Hybrids 10 Camellia species Although much breeding work has been done on camellias in recent years, few different types have been added to the standard commercial fare ; in fact, there have only been very limited additions to the varieties offered in the last fifty years. These standard varieties are very good for some localities, but many lack adequate hardiness to grow in the temperature zones where people are still interested in them! Our goal is to offer a range of varieties which are disease resistant and adapted to a range of climates from the southern edge to the northern edge of the "Camellia Belt". We are constantly pushing at the northern edge, pushing it back further and further, reaching people who were previously unable to enjoy the breath-taking beauty of these ever-green, winter-blooming plants. We are continuing to work on and release varieties that are variously adapted to hardiness zones 6 through 9 that will together span the blooming season from September to April. Cam Too Camellia Nursery would like to take this opportunity to invite you to visit us and see our new and exciting camellia cultivars. Always feel free to ask any questions you might desire. We are growing plants for next year's market and for the future. We love what we do, and we do what we love Grow Camellias!! Cam Too Nursery is a member of the North Carolina Nurserymen's Association, International Plant Propagators Society, American Camellia Society, International Camellia Society, Maryland Nursery & Landscape Assoc., Virginia Nursery & Landscape Assoc., and Southern Nursery Association.
