Hello. I am Larry Jay Giddens, Sr. and it is my privilege to serve as Sheriff for the great citizens of Accomack County. Prior to becoming Sheriff I was afforded the honor to serve Accomack County since 1987. Before that I began my law enforcement career at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel in 1983. In 1999 I was promoted to Chief Deputy with the rank of Captain. This gave me the opportunity to become highly involved with the accreditation standards set forth by the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standard Commission and to be instrumental in getting the Accomack County Sheriff's Office fully accredited. This is no small task, this distinction is only issued to approximately 17 percent of the law enforcement agencies in the state of Virginia. I wish to extend my gratitude and say "Thank you!" to the people of Accomack County who supported me during the election in 2007. The Accomack County Sheriff's Office is one of the best departments in the state of Virginia. I wish to continue this tradition and bring the department even further along in its day to day operations by bringing us to the forefront in training and technology.
