Located in Portsmouth, Va., Girls Incorporated Center for Youth serves as an advocate for girls, focusing attention on their special needs, and also offers various programs for youth. The center covers an area of more than 15,000-square-feet, and has a program capacity of over 150 students. It offers various program areas, including a gymnasium with half court basketball, library, activity room, four classrooms, a program office, sick child area, kitchen, bathrooms, storage areas, and a fenced-covered playground. Girls Incorporated Center for Youth provides before and after school, early release kindergarten, and summer day camp programs. The center also houses an indoor 25-meter heated swimming pool that is open year-round for people of all ages, with no membership fee. Aquatic activities available at the center include aquacise, deep water jogging, arthritis therapy, swim club, swim lessons, lap swim, and designated family swim sessions. It also offers an adolescent pregnancy prevention program.
