Established in 1910, the Central Virginia Training Center is one of the largest of Commonwealth facilities that serves individuals with physical and mental disabilities. The center s service areas include the central, southwestern and northwestern regions of Virginia. Its intermediate, skilled nursing and acute care centers serve more than 500 clients. The Central Virginia Training Center occupies over 350 acres of space. The center offers a range of rehabilitative, vocational and psychological assessment services. It also provides nutritional administration and medical care programs. In addition, it offers assistance with a variety of daily activities. The Central Virginia Training Center provides on-campus religious and chapel services.
