The Utrgv Counseling and Training Clinics

The UTRGV Counseling and Training Clinics, located in Brownsville and Edinburg, Texas, offer free counseling services to the RGV community and beyond. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the clinics have temporarily shifted to online telehealth services using Zoom, allowing UTRGV student interns to continue counseling individuals through videoconferencing. Once the crisis is over, the clinics will resume on-site services while still offering Zoom sessions based on client preference.

All counselors at the UTRGV Counseling and Training Clinics are current students in the UTRGV masters degree counseling program, supervised by licensed professional counselors and board-approved supervisors. Clients can complete a client intake survey to determine their willingness to receive telehealth services or wait for on-site appointments to be available. The clinics prioritize professionalism and skillfulness, occasionally having supervisors visit or videotape sessions with client permission. In crisis situations, clients are advised to seek prompt action through local mental health services or emergency resources.
