John has served on the of the Board of Directors of the Tyler Area Builders Association. "In addition to the community and business organizations that This Old House participates in, I try to always give something back to the community," he says. "I really enjoyed being on the construction board at Habitat for Humanity." Truly a renaissance man, John Simmons is also a gifted blues musician. He is a regular performer in the area with his band, Johnny and the Nightcrawlers, at both live music venues and charity events. The band has opened for numerous headline acts such as The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Jerry Jeff Walker, Bugs Henderson, Delbert McClinton and Marsha Ball. John is the father of five grown children and lives in a restored 1890's farmhouse near Lake Tyler.
