Dr. Matthew Mays is an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Mays specializes in sports medicine with an emphasis on the minimally invasive treatment of shoulder, hip, and knee injuries. In practice since 2008, Dr. Mays sees patients of all ages. His passion includes arthroscopy and minimally invasive techniques that help speed the recovery process in everyone from the recreational athlete to the most elite professional athlete. He also treats patients with a wide range of shoulder, hip, and knee issues. As an additional service, Dr. Mays serves as the team physician for Bellaire High School athletic teams. Dr. Mays is married and enjoys spending time with his wife and son pursuing outdoor activities including sailing, wakeboarding, hiking, mountain biking, snow skiing and running.
