Department of Pediatrics

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio serves the needs of children in the state of Texas by providing medical education, research, clinical and advocacy programs. The department s education offerings include undergraduate programs in San Antonio and at the Regional Academic Health Center in Harlingen, Texas. Its graduate medical education programs include the core pediatric residency and subspecialty training in critical care medicine, endocrinology, neonatology and sports medicine. The department also promotes lifelong learning through continuing medical education programs, such as weekly grand rounds that is open to the community at large. Its research focuses on areas, such as Type II diabetes mellitus, ethnocultural barriers to health care and AIDS in children.
