Aaliya Amer, MD

Madiha Ashraf, MD is originally from Pakistan and graduated from one of the most prestigious medical colleges in Pakistan—The Aga Khan University—in 2005. Dr. Ashraf moved to Houston, TX for her residency at The Methodist Hospital from 2007-2010 and then a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at The University of Houston from 2010-2012. After completing her training, she opted to stay at the Texas Medical Center and joined The Methodist Hospital as an Infectious Diseases consultant and Assistant Professor of Medicine. The Methodist Hospital has a robust teaching program affiliated with Weill Cornell University and Texas A&M. During her time there from 2012-2022, she was actively involved in training medical students from both these prestigious universities and residents of The Methodist Hospital itself. During the COVID pandemic, Dr. Ashraf was at the forefront of physicians treating and investigating this infection. She was the primary investigator and co-author of two studies related to the treatment of COVID infection, namely oral favipiravir and convalescent plasma. After ten years of practice at the Texas Medical Center, she brings valuable experience in treating a wide spectrum of infections and their complications. In her free time, Dr. Ashraf enjoys cooking for and traveling with her husband and three children.

Dr. Khurrum Khan, a board-certified interventional cardiologist, offers advanced cardiovascular care to the Sugar Land community and surrounding areas. Driven by a lifelong passion for the cardiovascular system, Dr. Khan completed his medical education at Baylor College of Medicine in the Texas Medical Center, followed by his internal medicine residency and general cardiology fellowship. He further honed his expertise during his interventional cardiology fellowship at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medicine, specializing in coronary artery disease, peripheral arterial and venous disease, and structural heart disease. Throughout his career, Dr. Khan has gained extensive experience caring for patients with a wide range of cardiovascular conditions, from acute coronary syndrome to advanced heart failure and heart transplant cases. His hands-on clinical training across multiple prestigious institutions, including Ben Taub General Hospital, Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, and the Michael E. Debakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center, has allowed him to develop expertise in both hospital and private practice settings. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Khan has contributed significantly to cardiology research, having published numerous peer-reviewed articles and presented at major cardiology conferences. His research includes a well-recognized review paper on door-in door-out times in STEMI patients, which won him an award for best poster at the BCM Cardiovascular Research Institute Symposium. He has also held leadership roles in prominent cardiology organizations, including serving as Chief Fellow for the American College of Cardiology’s Young Scholars Program and co-founding the Innovation Section for the Texas Chapter of the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Khan is committed to providing comprehensive cardiovascular care to his Houston community, utilizing the latest advancements in technology and evidence-based treatment plans. From prevention and diagnosis to advanced interventional procedures, Dr. Khan is dedicated to delivering exceptional, personalized care to his patients.
