The Department of Law offers a variety of legal claims and insurance services. It is a part of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Tenn. The department supervises, directs and controls all the law work of the metropolitan government . The Department of Law also furnishes legal advice to the county mayor , council, officers, departments, boards and commissions concerning matters related to their official powers and duties. It represents the metropolitan government in all litigation matters, as well as collects debts, taxes and accounts due the government. Additionally, the department approves written instruments, including contracts, bonds, deeds and leases.
