My interest in medicine started early in college. I witnessed a motor vehicle accident on the highway and thought it would be good to have the skills to help people in need. I became an emergency medical technician and eventually a paramedic. Helping people with medical problems is both challenging and rewarding. This experience was the foundation my medical career has been built on. \n As an internist, I am able to care for any adult. In addition to being an internist, I am also a fellowship-trained and board-certified geriatrician. I enjoy the challenge of managing complexities that present in later life. Older patients bring great stories and perspective into the exam room. \n Having practiced over 20 years, I am comfortable managing complicated medical problems like heart failure or diabetes, but health promotion gives me the greatest satisfaction. The best medical problem is one that is prevented with good sleep, diet and exercise. \n Quality of life is paramount in my practice. \n In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my wife, son, daughter and dog. Getting outside is my happy place. Going to the beach and playing disc golf are the pastimes I enjoy.
Anthony Dalton, PA-C
Growing up in Portland, Oregon, I always wanted to use my interest in science and biology to help those around me and be a positive influence in the lives of others. I set out to make that dream a reality by earning my undergraduate degree in physiology before earning a master's degree in physician assistant studies. \n My approach to patient care is based on treating the whole person with evidence-based medicine. I strive to find the root cause of any problem rather than merely treating symptoms. I am very interested in preventive medicine and often discuss with my patients how they can ward off certain conditions. That's always preferable to treating them once they surface. \n I love being a generalist and getting to treat people of all ages for a wide variety of conditions. I stay current in my field by being a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the South Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants. \n I enjoy spending my time with my family, taking road trips and enjoying the great outdoors.
