Dr. Nathan DeTurk is a fellowship-trained movement disorder neurologist at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and is board-certified in neurology. He completed his neurology residency at the University of Virginia (UVA), followed by a movement disorders fellowship at MUSC. He also holds an MBA with a concentration in healthcare economics, policy, and administration, and graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from Penn State University. Dr. DeTurk specializes in the diagnosis and comprehensive management of movement disorders, including Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor, dystonia, Huntington’s disease, and ataxia syndromes. He has expertise in deep brain stimulation (DBS), including advanced programming techniques such as adaptive DBS. His particular interests include preventative brain health, DBS, focused ultrasound (FUS), and the use of technology to improve care for patients with movement disorders.

After graduating in 2012 he completed a Plastic Surgery Residency at the Nassau University Medical Center- Stony Brook Medicine program. During this time, he also completed a two-year research fellowship and received a Master’s Degree in Clinical Research. Upon conclusion of his residency, Dr. Klein completed a Reconstructive Microsurgery Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. He joined MUSC as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery in 2022.
