Matthew Alan Barnes, MD

Dr. Annett earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia and then completed residencies in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics in Greenville, SC. After several years in practice, he returned to Greenville to complete a Sports Medicine fellowship with Greenville Health System (GHS) and its Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas (SHCC). At present, he is employed with SHCC at its Simpsonville Medical Campus site as well as he serves as team physician for Hillcrest High School. He has recently served as team physician for the Greenville FC of the NPSL and is currently team physician for the Greenville Liberty of the USL's W League. He is the Program Director for the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at Prisma Health—Upstate and University of South Carolina Greenville. Clinical and/or research interests include sports ultrasound, exertional leg pain and compartment testing, and orthobiologics such as platelet rich plasma (PRP).
