Laurie Thompson, FNP-BC

Dr. Mataosky grew up on a horse farm in Maryland. Graduated from Loyola College then went to Georgetown University School of Medicine. He joined the Army after College. He completed Flight training at Ft Rucker and then Special Forces training at Ft Bragg. He completed his medical training while in the Military. After completing his internship in 1990 he was deployed to Desert Shield. He is a Colonel in the USAR with 35 years of service. He went through 9 Deployments to include 5 to Iraq and Kuwait, Egypt, Bosnia and Afghanistan. He was awarded ARCOMs (7), Meritorious Service Medals (4), Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, NATO, Expeditionary Medals, and Bronze Star (2) unit. He is married with a set of twins. He loves spending time with family, like boating with his son and volleyball with his daughter. He considers himself very fortunate and proud to provide Cardiovascular health service to the Low Country.

Dr. Sandhu grew up in Irmo, SC, and has called Charleston home since the beginning of her medicine training. She graduated from Irmo High School, and went to Atlanta, GA where she completed her BS in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology at Emory University, with a minor in religious studies. She returned to SC for her medical training at the Medical University of South Carolina and was fortunate enough to remain there for the duration of her training through medical school, intern year, medicine residency, cardiology fellowship, and interventional cardiology fellowship. Close family ties and a deep connection to the Charleston community led her to search for employment in Charleston. Dr. Sandhu is board certified in Cardiovascular Diseases and Interventional Cardiology. In her free time, she enjoys being outside, reading, watching and playing sports, and spending time with those people that are important to her.

Dr. McCarty was born and raised in Arkansas and after attending Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas, he decided on medicine as a career. He earned his Doctorate degree in Medicine from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock prior to expanding his horizons on the east coast. He fell in love with Charleston and completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina. He was fortunate enough to be able to remain in Charleston for fellowship training in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology at MUSC.
