Taos Search and Rescue, established in 1978, is a dedicated group of volunteers providing assistance to individuals lost or injured in the New Mexico wilderness and beyond. With a focus on teamwork, integrity, dedication, and service, they operate year-round in various off-road areas, including mountains, high deserts, and the Rio Grande Gorge, as well as urban off-road searches. Their highly trained team consists of specialized units such as Base, Bike, Drone, Ground, K9, Medical, OHV, Swiftwater, Tech, and Winter, ensuring expertise in a wide range of rescue scenarios.

As an all-volunteer, non-profit organization, Taos Search and Rescue relies on the support of the community to fund their operations. They are proud members of the New Mexico Search and Rescue Council and the National Association of Search and Rescue, demonstrating their commitment to professionalism and service. New volunteers are always welcome to join their ranks, and training is provided in various areas of expertise, including medical care, avalanche rescue, swiftwater training, and more.
