Mike Pugliese, a 35 year veteran and local seafood maven took the helm in April 2011 at the Fishery located in SpinDrift Village, Westerly, RI. This seasoned seafood market captain has owned several other local seafood markets and also has a lobster pound in Maine. Mike was introduced to seafood markets and fishing by his father as a boy and eventually found his way to the docks in New London, CT taking a job as a mate on one of the fishing boats. Having an entrepreneurial spirit he eventually started selling fish, shrimp, clams, scallops and live lobsters himself from his first seafood market, JJ's Dog House in 1978. Entrepreneurs like Mike are creative people at heart so preparing and creating delicious recipes and items like lobster rolls and stuffed clams among many others is something he enjoys doing and talking with customers about . Specialties
We specialize in selecting the highest quality whole fish from local waters. If we can't get our hands on fresh local whole fish from a boat we won't buy it! This means we are seasonal and the availability of certain species changes throughout the year. We fillet all our fish by hand each day. This is hugely important because most fish fillets sold today are highly processed and treated to preserve freshness and weight. Come experience how fish was meant to be sold. In addition to our fresh seafood items we also do all our own prepared foods. Take home fresh chowders, stuffed clams, cocktail shrimp and more! We serve fish n' chips on Friday nights and will steam lobsters anytime!
