Sushil Beriwal, MD - AGH Radiation Oncology

Alexander V Kirichenko, MD, PhDDr. Kirichenko is the clinical director of both the Gastrointestinal and Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT) programs at the AHN Cancer Institute. Hes been a practicing radiation oncologist for more than 30 years, and hes internationally recognized as one of the developers of liver SBRT in patients with hepatic cirrhosis. His clinical research includes high-precision, respiratory gated SBRT, as well as intensity-modulated, image-guided radiation therapy (IG-IMRT) to maximize organ preservation during radiotherapy of various GI malignancies. Dr. Kirichenko authored more than 100 publications in peer-reviewed journals and is an invited speaker to multiple national and international research conferences.

Alexander Helfand, MD, is a medical oncologist and hematologist with AHN Cancer Institute, specializing in providing compassionate and empathetic oncologic and hematologic care. He diagnoses and treats blood-related illness and cancer. Dr. Helfand went to medical school at Sackler School of Medicine, New York State/American Program, in Tel Aviv, Israel. Upon completion of medical school, he did his residency at Weill Cornell Medicine: New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, New York and his fellowship in hematology/oncology at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Dr. Helfand is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is affiliated with the American Society of Hematology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. He speaks Spanish and Hebrew and sees patients ages 18 and older.

Shifeng S Mao, MD, PhD, is the chair of the AHN Cancer Institute urological oncology team. His practice and research focus on genitourinary cancers, including prostate cancer, bladder cancer, kidney cancer, and testicular cancer. He is an Associate Professor Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine. Dr. Mao is an active researcher and the principal investigator of many clinical trials. He has active collaborations with colleagues from Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center and Carnegie Mellon University. He is the recipient of American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Young Investigator Award. He has published many research studies in medical journals and presented his findings at national conferences. His experience in cancer research gives him a unique perspective and insight into the biology of cancer, which enhances his clinical care with patients. Dr. Mao earned his medical degree from Beijing Medical University and his doctorate in medical pathology from University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He completed his residency at New York University School of Medicine and continued his studies through a fellowship at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston/MD Anderson Cancer Center.
