Mifflin County Children & Youth

Established in 1999, Mifflin County Communities That Care is a community wide prevention program that focuses on the identification of at-risk individuals and planning prevention programs. It concentrates on the prevention of juvenile delinquency, teenage pregnancy, school dropout and substance abuse. The program also includes measures for the preclusion of truancy, child violence, and undesirable actions and attitudes. Mifflin County Communities That Care works with nonprofit agencies and community members to communicate and collaborate the implementation of evidence-based prevention programs and prevention strategies for community members. Additionally, it includes the Big Brothers Big Sisters Adult Mentoring Program, which emphasizes one-on-one tutoring relationship between youths up to the age of 17 with individuals above the age of 21.
