Luhrs Performing Arts Center at Shippensburg University aspires to be the hub of a variety of programs aimed at enhancing the university's role in serving the people of Pennsylvania by providing a diverse range of cultural programming, including full-scale Broadway productions, comedians, symphonies, pop and rock performances, kid and family shows, and internationally renowned speakers. Professional training programs, youth programs, and senior citizen programs are held at the center, which also attracts regional and national business conferences, professional meetings, and planning sessions, as well as a large number of additional visitors and guests to the area, all of which have a positive impact on the local and regional economies.

The Mercersburg Area Community Chorus, established in the fall of 1975, has become a vital part of the regional music scene, performing a December series of four concerts and a spring series of three concerts annually.
