Darkhouse Lighthouse is a unique artistic installation located within a dilapidated rowhouse in Pittsburgh, PA. This full-size working lighthouse, designed by artists Lenka Clayton and Phillip Andrew Lewis, emerges from the basement and extends four stories, culminating in a weathervane that pierces the roofline.
The installation offers visitors a disorienting journey through a domestic space transformed into a navigational marker, with a rotating light visible from the street at night. Darkhouse Lighthouse serves as a latent time capsule, awaiting activation as a functional beacon when sea levels rise to meet its current elevation of 879 feet above sea level.
