American Freight Furniture and Mattress opened its first store in Lima, Ohio in 1993. The store focused on giving customers the best prices on name-brand and house-brand furniture and mattresses by showcasing the furniture in warehouses instead of expensive showrooms. As customers began to see the value the stores had to offer, demand increased, and new stores began to open. Today there are over 300 stores throughout the United States.
