Rogue River Gorge Viewpoint

The Lost Creek Covered Bridge in Eagle Point, Oregon is a historic structure that has been closed to traffic since 1979, with a concrete span now handling the few vehicles that pass by each day. Believed to have been built as early as 1878-1881, it is potentially the oldest standing covered bridge in Oregon, making it a significant landmark in the area. This 39-foot bridge features a county Queenpost design, a shingle roof, and flying buttress braces, with rough wooden flooring consisting of diagonal planking and hand-hewn truss members providing structural stability. The bridge was nearly lost during the 1964 Christmas flood, but prayers and fortunate circumstances saved it from destruction.
