History
Portland Early Learning Project was founded in 2006 by Christina and Kara, two speech-language pathologists who shared a love for language, children and families. In their professional practice, they both had wonderful success in using American Sign Language signs with children who had speech and language delays. They decided it would be fabulous to share this gift with families who have children of all abilities and thus PELP was born. Within the first year, Kara's love for the Spanish language and her skills as a bi-lingual teaching in Argentina made Spanish classes a natural addition to our line-up. Over the years, PELP has grown so much. We have had the joy of teaching hundreds of children and families and have a wonderful, family-like team of amazing teachers.
