Brothers Kurt and Rob Widmer founded Widmer Brothers Brewing Company in 1984. The Widmer brothers have created original beers and overseen the entire brewing process from fresh grains to finished beers, brewing authentic European and American style beers. The Widmer brothers special brewing yeast was obtained from the world-renowned Brewing Research Institute in Weihenstephan, Bavaria. This special yeast has been maintained at Widmer s brewery for more than 19 years and is an important part of the Widmer Brothers brewing process. America s Original Hefeweizen is an example of the Widmer Brothers brewing success. The Brothers pioneered Hefeweizen beer in America in 1986 and America s Original Hefeweizen has grown in popularity over the past decade. Widmer Brothers Brewing produces an extensive line of European and American style beers year-round. These offerings include America s Original Hefeweizen, Pale Ale, Sweet Betty Blonde Ale, Widberry and Altbier. The holidays inspired Widmer Brothers to be the first brewery to introduce seasonal beers to America spawning such favorites as Sommerbr u and Oktoberfest.
