I have worked in healthcare for 33 years and the majority of my experience has been in emergency medicine. In the early 90s, I became an Emergency Medical Technician. I worked as a Paramedic for EMSA in OKC and as a flight medic with Air Evac. In 2001, I obtained my licensure as a Registered Nurse and worked in the emergency department setting for several years. In 2014, I endured a personal loss. My mother Diane suffered from depression, adult-onset alcoholism, and died by suicide. My career path changed after the death of my mother and I decided to pursue psychiatry to help others that are experiencing symptoms of mental illness.
