Established in 1834, Ohio State University Medical Center is one of the largest academic medical centers in the United States. Ohio State University Medical Center s emergency department offers 24-hour services and Level-1 trauma care for major trauma, acute cardiac conditions and burns. Specialized facilities located in the emergency department include trauma resuscitation suites, CT scanner, hyperbaric medicine chamber, and helicopters for advanced emergency care and rapid aeromedical transport to the hospital. The medical center participates in several insurance plans, including Accountable Health Plan of Ohio, First Health Network, Medicaid and Medicare, and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
