N.C.S. of Barberton, Inc.... revitalizes our community by promoting home ownership, housing rehabilitation, and targeted neighborhood improvements. NCS is a locally controlled, non-profit housing program dedicated to revitalizing Barberton Neighborhoods. NCS works in the neighborhoods to stem neighborhood decline and to upgrade Barberton housing stock. It is our goal to assist neighborhoods in restoring their vitality Working initially in targeted neighborhoods we offer low interest loans to homeowners to repair & improve their homes. We also help to organize residents who not only fix their properties but encourage other and promote their neighborhoods as a desirable place to live. In 1996 NCS expanded its services City wide to assist residents with emergency loans for code violations and serious repairs. By mid 1998, NCS and Barberton Community Foundation created a joint agreement to increase our loan programs city wide and to include a broader income population. To date NCS has leveraged and invested over $18, 000, 000.00 into Barberton's neighborhoods. Through our First Time Home Buyer program, down payment assistance, and new construction projects, we have helped to create over 140 new homeowners in the city. Our Paint Your Heart Out Program has painted homes for senior citizens and disabled families. The Housewarming Program is now in it's 19th year and has provided free insulation, furnace repair/replacement and energy conservation education to over 25, 000 homes in the City of Barberton and surrounding Counties. Our success is based upon our unique partnership of business and city officials, leaders and residents working together to implement neighborhood revitalization strategies.
