I contacted to get some work done on a restoration, The guy I spoke with told me that "I don't work on engines and stuff that someone else has messed up" Is that not the job of a mechanic, to work...

He will rip you off if you are female or are not knowledgeable in automotive parts or repair. They regularly quote women higher prices. Find a new place!
