As the dean of The Ohio State University College of Medicine, I am not currently accepting new patients. In my role, I focus on faculty retention, recruitment and engagement. I'm leading an unprecedented recruitment process that's already underway and will continue through 2023-350 clinicians and 150 research scientists will join Ohio State to help fulfill the university's goal of becoming one of the top 20 academic medical centers in the United States. We're attracting the best and brightest to join the outstanding physicians and scientists who lead the nation in fields ranging from regenerative medicine and wound healing to heart failure and spinal cord injury. We want to rapidly advance Columbus and Ohio State as a hub for research, patient care and educational innovatio y research interests include stem cell drug delivery, tissue engineering and outcomes research. As a funded investigator for over 25 years, I investigate the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying vascular disease. My goal is to identify and create new therapeutic targets to eventually use to improve patient car cademic medicine is my passion, and Ohio State is my home. Our differentiated clinical programs and life-altering biomedical discoveries make my heart swell with Buckeye pride.

I'm an MD PhD clinician scientist in neurology at The Ohio State University. I was awarded a NIH K08 grant funding my work to examine the inflammatory response after traumatic axonal injury under the mentorship of Dr. Segal. In the laboratory, my focus is on immunomodulation after traumatic neuronal injury to stimulate axon regeneration of neurons and improve recovery after optic nerve crush injury and traumatic brain or spinal cord injury. My focus is on the recruitment and enhancement of neuroprotective and regenerative myeloid cells after neuronal injury that can stimulate axon regeneration and recovery from trauma. I completed my MD and PhD at the Medical University of South Carolina with a research focus in neuroimmunology. I completed my residency in neurology at the University of Michigan where I was chief resident in my final year. I then completed a clinical fellowship in sports neurology and traumatic brain injury at the University of Michigan, and see traumatic brain injury patients in the clinic. I returned to the laboratory during my fellowship with an NIH R25 grant, and continue research with my NIH K08 grant. The goal of my research is to find translational immunotherapy targets to promote healing after traumatic neuronal injury.

I'm a counseling psychologist, specializing in sport psychology and eating disorders. I take a practical, straightforward approach to care, taking the time to get to know the individual, gain an understanding of what kind of person they would like to be and then work with them to develop ways to cope with what may be troubling them. The ultimate goal is to have folks I work with begin to live a fuller and more intentional life. Prior to becoming a psychologist, I was a gymnast for 18 years. Gymnasts learn at an early age that the sport requires a lot of discipline and goal-setting. Having that background has helped me see first-hand the sacrifices that athletes make, the conflicts that are created and the different ways that I can help them. Whether you're an athlete or not, the same principles apply in helping individuals develop into the best person possible.
