NCFI Polyurethanes formulates and manufactures foam-in-place polyurethane foam systems. It sells and services foam mixing and dispensing equipment to end-users on a national basis. When it was founded 1964, NCFI manufactured flexible foams for the bedding and furniture industry. In 1967, it began formulating foam-in-place systems for cold storage insulation. Since then, applications for its products have expanded into the commercial roofing, residential wall insulation, marine flotation, packaging, taxidermy and specialty molding industries. In addition, NASA insulates its space shuttle fuel tanks with NCFI foam-in-place polyurethane foam. NCFI is a division of Barnhardt Manufacturing Company, a Charlotte, N.C., manufacturer of fiber cushioning materials and specialty cotton textiles. NCFI is based in Mount Airy, N.C.
