MinuteClinic SUMMERFIELD, located inside CVS/pharmacy #5532 at 4601 US HWY. 220 NORTH, is a walk-in medical clinic. Services include routine vaccinations, health screenings, minor wound and injury treatment, physicals and more-- with no appointment needed. Our family nurse practitioners and physician assistants provide services for both adults and children, 18 months and older. MinuteClinic accepts most insurance plans and cash, checks, and credit cards.

I cannot imagine my life or career if it did not involve helping others and taking care of patients. Family medicine is more than a job for me; it is a calling. It is a truly awesome thing to be able to care for entire families, sometimes including three or four generations. That range of ages not only allows me to see a variety of patients, but to provide just as wide a variety of care. That makes it exciting to come to work every day. \n One thing I value in my relationships with my patients is straightforward communication. I "tell it like it is," and talk to my patients as I would a friend or a family member. I want patients to feel comfortable asking or telling me anything, and I aim to answer every question and listen to every concern. I provide recommendations and suggestions, and try to make sure each patient feels empowered and actively involved in making their own medical decisions. \n When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband. We especially love traveling together and are always up for exploring new places. I also enjoy staying active by golfing and running. When I need to slow down, you will often find me reading a suspense novel or watching Virginia Tech football.

My career in medicine began unconventionally. While working as a music therapist in Western North Carolina in the late 1980s, I often found my patients' medical histories varied and complex. Although I was able to help them, I wanted to learn more and help more. So, with the support of the medical staff where I worked, I entered physician assistant school at Wake Forest University in 1991. \n As a physician assistant, I make sure your child is the central focus of every visit with me. Their happiness and well-being are my top priorities. Families deserve an empathetic, open-minded healthcare clinician who will support their children as they grow and develop - and I strive to be just that. While not every visit is fun, we almost always find something to laugh about together. \n I'm proud to work for Novant Health Forsyth Pediatrics, where we embrace diversity, inclusion and acceptance for all our patients and their families. I'm also proud of my past service on the board of the Guilford Green Foundation, an LGBTQ organization, and of an article I co-authored that was published in the Journal of Adolescent Health called Confidential Billing Accounts for Adolescents in Private Practice. \n My family includes two children and my spouse of nearly three decades. I love spending time outdoors and watching college football in the fall. Additionally, there always seems to be at least one DIY project going on somewhere in our home.
