Sovereign Grace Reformed Presbyterian Church is a new and growing congregation founded in 2003 in Hickory, North Carolina. The Lord has brought together a joyful and mature group of Christians who take their faith and walk with Christ seriously. We have relatively new converts, children, aged saints, young and middle aged couples. Sovereign Grace is joyfully grounded in the biblical doctrines of the Reformation. We believe the bible is the Word of God and gather every Lord's Day, Sunday morning and evening, to hear the Scriptures, pray, sing and worship together. As we grow, we desire to reach out to the community in evangelism and service. We believe in the power of the gospel to transform our lives and those of our neighbors. We have children and adult Sunday School classes, a women's Bible study, mid week morning and eveving Bible studies, a monthly fellowship/game night, annual picnics and Christmas parties, etc. to instruct and encourage all ages. Since we believe that Jesus Christ died, rose again and called a people for His praise and glory, Sovereign Grace Reformed Presbyterian Church must be a God-serving and outward-reaching church. Born in 1936 out of the struggles between historic biblical Christianity and early 20th century theological liberalism, the Orthodox Presbyterian Church seeks to be faithful to the Scriptures, the historic Presbyterian confessions ( the Wesminster Confession of Faith, and its Shorter and Larger Catechisms ) and the legacy of the Protestant Reformation. We are a theologically conservative, Calvinistic church. We seek to honor God as the Sovereign Lord of the universe. We preach Christ as the Son of God, the only Savior, who died for sinners. We seek to live obedient and joyful Christian lives through the power of the Holy Spirit. We insist upon the absolute truth and authority of God's word, the Bible, and we invite you to join us in our worship, work, and witness to the glory of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
