Located northwest of Winston-Salem and just south of Mt. Airy, Pilot Mountain State Park is one of North Carolina's most popular and visible destinations. There are a variety of physical activities available to the park's visitors including rock climbing, hiking and cycling.

For those who love to hike, Pilot Mountain State Park is one of the best destinations in the state to do so. The park is divided into two sections, the mountain section and Yadkin River section. Both sections provide ample trails. For those who like to fish, catfish and crappie are prevalent in the park. In addition, horseback riding and canoeing are other options.

Pilot Mountain is an insult to hikers. People should be forced to hike to the top of a mountain & earn it & not by driving to it like a lazy invalid. Hate seeing people taking short cuts.
