I wanted to become a nurse practitioner in order to take care of patients throughout their adult life and different touches of the healthcare system. I want to hear what is important to each patient in their life as it helps me care for them as a whole individual. Together, we make decisions on care options after I help educate patients on my view of their health and how many symptoms may be interrelated. Outside of work, I stay busy with my husband, two children, boy and girl, and dog. I love to attend my children’s activities and show them support. I am a UNC alumnus twice and try to keep up with the latest sports news. I often spend weekend time seeing family/friends, reading, boating, do-it-yourself projects and volunteering.

I chose to become a physician to learn more about the human body, and then to have the opportunity to take that knowledge and apply it in an understandable and approachable way to all my patients. I ultimately became a specialist in heart rhythm disorders as it is a rapidly growing field that still has much to be discovered. Heart rhythm disorders can be very frightening, and it is my mission to help my patients understand their condition in a comprehensible way, incorporating their thoughts and opinions into their own plan of care.
