I specialize in the treatment of patients with breast cancer with an emphasis on partnering with patients in shared decision making. My research interests include addressing factors which contribute to disparities in cancer mortality and devising innovative strategies to optimize clinical trial participation. I am currently a co-investigator on a study to determine site-level predictors and stakeholder perceptions of differences in Black participant recruitment to clinical trials. I also sit on the medical advisory board for multiple patient-centered organizations including the Promise Fund of Florida and serve as a workgroup member for the American Cancer Society National Breast Cancer Roundtable.

I am a hematologist and health services researcher, deeply committed to providing comprehensive and personalized care to my patients. I chose the path of medicine due to the unique blend it offers of scientific exploration and the opportunity to make a meaningful, positive impact on the lives of individuals. My philosophy of care emphasizes patient empowerment through education, shared decision-making, and comprehensive care approaches. I firmly believe that patient care is about treating the person as a whole, factoring in not only physical health but also emotional and social aspects. My aim is to ensure that each patient feels acknowledged, heard, and understood. I have a special clinical interest in hematologic malignancies, particularly indolent lymphomas, and in the improvement of healthcare systems to better support these patients. My research often incorporates real-world datasets, such as the SEER-Medicare database, with an aim to address disparities and improve outcomes in older adults with cancer. I strive to use these data-driven approaches to enhance supportive care for my patients. Away from work, I relish spending time in the great outdoors, enjoying activities such as running and cycling. I also have a keen interest in history and often spend my free time getting lost in books that broaden my understanding of different historical periods and cultures. Lastly, I am a passionate board game enthusiast, appreciating both the strategic challenge and the camaraderie that these games provide.
