Veteran Affairs medical Center is a 164-bed, tertiary care facility located in Syracuse, N.Y., and serves more than 40,000 veteran men and women in the 18-county area of central New York. It provides acute medical, neurological, surgical and psychiatric inpatient services. Additionally, the medical center offers specialized ambulatory care to veterans in the area. Veteran Affairs Medical Center also operates community-based outpatient clinics located in Auburn, Binghamton, Carthage, Cortland, Ithaca, Massena, Oswego and Rome in New York. The clinics offer primary care and mental health programs. The medical center is part of Veteran Affairs Healthcare Network Upstate New York, and is academically affiliated with the State University of New York Health Science Center at Syracuse College of Medicine.
