Elim Bible Institute, established in1924, is a Christian college, offering certificate and diploma programs in biblical studies and leadership training. Located in Lima, N.Y., it offers courses, such as preaching, ethics, Christian counseling and the Holy Spirit. The institute is accredited by the New York State Board of Regents and offers more than 70 correspondence courses in subjects, such as Bible, theology, ministry, education, missions, music, and languages, including Greek and Hebrew. The institute offers Bible as its only major. It also offers a three-year program involving study, weekly chapel service, ministry experience for teachers, pastors missionaries and youth workers. It also organizes local outreach programs and internship at the New York School of Urban Ministry and Elim's Rochester Urban Center.

Unable to save the structure due to the delayed response of neighboring fire companies, the Ionia Protectives was formed on the steps of the Methodist Church. Since then, the company has grown and expanded, acquiring firefighting apparatus and building a two-bay firehouse. Today, the Ionia Volunteer Fire Company continues to serve the community, providing fire protection and emergency services. Over the years, the company has added additional bays and facilities to accommodate larger fire trucks and meet the needs of the growing community.
