The New York State Veterans Homes

St. Albans Veterans' Home, located in Jamaica, N.Y., is a 250-bed facility offering skilled nursing care and rehabilitative services for veterans and their eligible dependents. It is part of New York State Veterans' Homes operated by the New York State Department of Health, and also conduct geriatric research and provides education and training for health care professionals. It offers single and double rooms with individually controlled heat and air conditioning, television and telephone. Two specialized units are available, one for residents who require higher levels of skilled nursing and medical care, and another to assist residents with Alzheimer's disease and other related dementias. Its services include rehabilitation, recreation, restorative nursing, pharmacy and food and nutritional services. It also provides library and computer resources, gift shop, barbershop and salon and spiritual counseling.
