HistoryBodyWorx Massage Therapy started in Margaretville with Barbara Johnson, LMT. The business was moved to Route 28 after a devastating flood. in 2000 it was acquired, managed and operated by Laura Battelani, LMT. In 2010, it was moved again to its current location of 23 Academy Street, in a building that also hosts a yoga studio and an acupuncturist. Laura Battelani is also a Life and Wellness Coach and offers coaching to individuals and groups and a combination coaching/massage packages.SpecialtiesWhen a body is alined correctly, it moves more easily with less effort. I use a variety of modalities to accomplish that goal for athletes as well as more sedentary people who spend part of their time working at the computer, sitting, driving. Muscles often may be healthy, yet be restricted in a tight fascia that suffocates them like a straight jacket. Using a myofascial release approach, I successfully unravel those adhesions and free the muscles. My intuition often helps me zero into the core of the problem and I use other modalities, including reflexology, shiatsu, reiki, neuromuscular therapy, active isolated stretching, metrix energetic to resolve many issues. I provide a great relaxing experience and alleviate many aches mainly in the neck, shoulders, back, hips with long lasting results.
