History
The First Tee of Nassau County, based at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, was the second official facility of The First Tee of Metropolitan New York founded in 2002. Working in partnership with ABC123 Golf Academy under the direction of Mike Wade PGA, the facility has blossomed into one of the most successful in the United States with well over 1,000 participating each year. Through a long-term usage agreement with the Nassau County Parks Department that also provides access at several other golf facilities and parks, The First Tee of Nassau County is well positioned for future growth and development. One of Mike's former students and first Eagle Level participant, Justin Koff PGA, attended Clemson University PGA Golf Management and returned to The First Tee of Nassau County as the Program Director.
Specialties
Since 1997, The First Tee has introduced the game of golf and its inherent values to the more than seven million young people. On golf courses, in elementary schools and at other youth development organizations, we've helped shape the lives of young people from all walks of life by teaching them values like integrity, respect and perseverance through the game of golf. In addition to learning fundamentals of the golf swing and the game, our character education and life skills programs help young people prepare for success in high school, college and life.
