Dr. Raphael P. Davis was trained by Dr. Leonard Mallis, one of the "fathers" of modern micro neurosurgery. Dr. Davis has been performing microsurgical procedures for over 28 years. His surgical expertise includes the treatment of skull base tumors (pituitary tumors and acoustic neuromas), brain tumors, as well as complex spinal surgery. He has performed over 8200 operations during his career. Dr. Davis has held the position of Chairman of the Department of Neurological Surgery since 1998. Dr. Davis also serves as Co-Director of the Neurosciences Institute.

In addition to general pediatric neurosurgery, my unique area of expertise is minimally invasive (aka endoscopic) repair of craniosynostosis. Additionally, I have expertise in epilepsy surgery (pediatric and adult), surgical treatment of brain and spinal cord tumors, and vascular surgery for moyamoya disease. I have been providing pediatric and adult neurosurgical care to the residents of Suffolk County for over 30 years. I perform many pediatric and adult neurosurgical procedures annually and I am also the Director of the neurosurgical residency program. My clinical practice includes pediatric and adult patients diagnosed with Arnold Chiari Deformity, hydrocephalus, normal pressure hydrocephalus, craniosynostosis, brain tumors and spina bifida, as well as traumatic brain injury.
