Dr. Samuel Ruder is a board-certified hematologist and medical oncologist based in New York City with specialized expertise in caring for patients with prostate cancer and other genitourinary (GU) malignancies, including kidney cancer, bladder cancer and testicular cancer, as well as those with non-malignant blood disorders. Dr. Ruder earned his medical degree from the University of Texas McGovern Medical School, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society for scholarly excellence. He completed his internal medicine residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and his hematology/oncology fellowship at Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Ruder is nationally recognized for his research in radioligand therapy (RLT), molecular PET imaging, and novel treatments for advanced and neuroendocrine prostate cancers. Dr. Ruder is a recipient of the 2024 ASCO Conquer Cancer Foundation Young Investigator Award. He is actively involved in clinical trials and translational research, aiming to bring cutting-edge, targeted therapies to patients. Dr. Ruder sees patients at both Lower Manhattan Hospital and on the Upper East Side, where he is dedicated to providing personalized, evidence-based care.

That was followed by post-fellowship clinical research training as an American Heart Association Clinician-Scientist at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the Mount Sinai Medical Center.He was subsequently appointed to the faculty of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine where he rose from Instructor to Professor of Medicine, with an additional appointment as Professor of Pathology, along with appointments as Director, Thrombosis and Hemostasis Section of Hematology Division at Mount Sinai School of Medicine.In 2003, Dr. Rand was recruited to the Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he was appointed Professor of Pathology, with Medicine with joint appointments in the Department of Medicine and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Women’s Health. There, he also served as Director of the Hematology, Advanced Coagulation, and Protein Separation Laboratories and as Principal Investigator of National Institutes of Health and Department of Defense research grants.Recruited to Weill Cornell Medicine and New York-Presbyterian Hospital in 2014, for more than a decade Dr. Rand served as Vice Chair for Laboratory Medicine and Director of the Clinical Laboratories and Vice Chair for Lower Manhattan Hospital.He has published over 100 papers in peer-reviewed medical and scientific journals. Dr. Rand has also contributed multiple chapters in the major textbooks of Hematology, Thrombosis and Hemostasis, Laboratory Medicine, Cancer Medicine, and Obstetrics and review articles in medical journals. He has served as a reviewer for hundreds of manuscripts in medical and scientific journals.
